Pear

July — May

Spain – an important producer of Pear

Spain is one of Europe’s important pear producers, but more regional than global-export oriented (compared with apples or citrus). Spain cultivates a wide range of pears, mainly in the northern and northeastern regions, where the cooler, more temperate climate is ideal for these crops. While Spain is not the largest producer of pears in Europe (compared to countries like Poland or Italy), it still plays a significant role, especially with high-quality, regionally protected varieties.

Harvest season is from July until October, storage season from October until April (sometimes May). Conference is the most important export pear in Spain and EU trade.
