Grape
Spain a key supplier in Europe
Spain is one of Europe’s key suppliers of fresh table grapes, with a long export window and a very structured trade. Season starting early in May in Murcia, peak season being in August-October, and finishing with the late season in Alicante October-December. The white seedless grape is the most exported grape in Spain, with a long production window, high demand in the EU and with a good shelf life. The second most exported is the red seedless grape, followed by the black seedless grape. Last being the traditional Spanish seeded grapes, most used domestically.
Essential for grapes is the uniformity, crunch, colour, and level of brix. Usually ≥14–16° is the minimum brix level for export, 18°+ being more premium.
